Accessories That Make a Difference

[ 0 ] March 8, 2012 |

Over these past few years, there has been a frenzy regarding the environment and how we can all be more environmentally friendly — from watching how much water we use to buying electric cars, there is so much more we can still do to help protect the world we live in. And then the eco-friendly craze hit the fashion world and we started seeing a range of clothes and accessories in designers’ collections; but instead of these items being affordable for the everyday person, designers felt the need to raise the prices for most items to $50+. Not so wallet-friendly, huh?

Well, what if we told you that we had gone through the countless number of eco-friendly designers to find you the best deals on eco-friendly accessories to add to any outfit? All for $20 or less!

Organic cotton printed scarf — $13

Scarves are always a hit, whether it’s winter or summer and this stylish organic scarf is the perfect addition to any outfit no matter what kind of style you prefer. It comes in many different colours and is made with 100% cotton, which is a lifesaver if your skin is sensitive to other fabrics. It’s just warm enough for those chilly days between winter and spring, but cool enough to not weigh down your outfit. You can find this scarf — and may other scarves — at Fashion & Earth.

Seatbelt belt — $22

We all love to be different and unique, and this “green” belt is the coolest way to keep your pants up. Made from recycled seat belts, Maggie Bags have created a functional, but cute, line of belts from unwanted and surplus automobile materials. They can be adjusted to any size and add just the right pop of colour to any outfit. You can find these belts online at The Ultimate Green Store.

Sandals — $20

Eco-friendly shoes do not have a pretty price tag, but we have found a sweet pair of sandals that are on sale for 50% off! These high quality sandals are made by Grendha and come in two shades: red and black.  They are made from recycled material and can be found online at Not Just Pretty.

Jogi Bag — $15.99

This fair trade, eco-friendly, 100% cotton bag gives just the right amount of “zing” to any outfit. The embroidery is beautiful and comes in many different designs and colours. It has been given rave consumer reviews for its high quality fabric and provides plenty of space for all the items we girls love to carry around on a day-to-day basis. You can find this beautiful bag online at Earth Divas.

Despite what some may think, you do not have to pay a hefty price to be more environmentally friendly. There are ways to help look after our planet while still looking chic, and the accessories we have shown you is just a step in the right direction towards achieving this goal. If you know a brand that promotes and produces organic or recycled clothes and accessories that we didn’t mention, please share it with us!¬†
